Meet Lynee Gonzales, M.S., PLMFT in Kansas City, MO.
Lynee Gonzales, M.S., PLMFT, at Liz Davis Therapy in Kansas City, MO.
Hey there! I’m Lynee Gonzales, and I believe therapy should be a safe, judgment-free space where you feel seen and understood.
If you're looking for a compassionate, nonjudgmental therapist who is also straightforward, you’re in the right place. As a trained Marriage and Family Therapist, I work with individuals, couples, and families seeking meaningful change in themselves or their relationships.
A key focus of my work is helping people heal from past wounds and childhood traumas, empowering them to understand how their experiences shape who they are today. When we know ourselves, and our history, it’s easier to know why the dynamics of our relationships are the way they are. After all, a relationship is made up of individuals.
I specialize in working with people who feel different—because I’ve often felt different myself. As a proud Mexican-American woman and member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I know what it’s like to navigate life with unique experiences. My friends would say I have an edgy personality due to my bold fashion and love for tattoos and piercings. I would describe myself as confident and unapologetic. When we’re working together during your therapy sessions, you can be 100% confident you’re experiencing the real, authentic me.
My own journey, marked by challenges and achievements, has led me to become a transformational influence in my family. Now, I’m here to help others step into their own transformative potential.
Lynee is excited to work with you!

The Person. I am a spooky, spiritual, esoteric person who loves 90’s slasher movies, true crime, my weenie dog, Lavender, and my cat, Burgundy.
On any day of the week you may see me in the car, jamming to loud music– varying from female rap artists to emo alt bands, depending on my mood. Throughout my day I often ask myself, “What would Megan thee Stallion do?”
I love to indulge in things from my childhood– You’ll often find me in my Chuck Taylor platform sneakers decorated with colorful beads, both in and out of the therapy room. I love 90’s nostalgia, including jelly sandals, bell bottoms, and Mike Judge cartoons. My most recent indulgence has been jamming out to Hillary Duff’s 2000s bangers and others alike. I have found these things to be somewhat healing for me. This reflects back on my therapy sessions, where much of my work entails finding the specific things that heal my clients, whatever they may be.
The Clinician. I received a Masters of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Friends University. During my time there, I was a member of the Delta Kappa Honor Society. The therapeutic styles I gravitated toward during my training were Bowen Family Therapy, Imago Relationship Therapy, and Somatic Therapy.
While I pursued my Masters, I also worked as a professional educator, where I developed effective partnerships with families and helped children establish secure relationships. While I love working with families, I also derive a great deal of fulfillment from working with individuals and couples.
The Approach. I don’t want our time to feel clinical. We’re here to have a conversation, and I am here to be your friend.
The difference with me is that I tend to ask deeper questions than the average friend would ask.
I want to understand where your beliefs come from and how your formative experiences shaped you into who you are today. Did you learn coping skills early in your childhood that worked well for you then but that don’t serve you now? Do you have limiting beliefs that keep you from pursuing your goals? Do you engage in negative self-talk?
Let’s unlearn that kind of thinking so you can become who you’re meant to be.
My Fee: $125 per 50 Minute Session.
Know that you’ve found one of the most nonjudgemental therapists in Kansas City! My style is kind and understanding, yet direct. I’m here to gently listen and process with you while also meeting you where you are at in order to do the work that will help you grow into the best version of yourself.
