One-on-One Therapy in Kansas City, MO.
We can’t wait to hear your story.
Why Should You Do Individual Therapy?
Therapy is for everyone. We all have a story to tell and a life to process.
We’d love the opportunity to work with you. When you meet with a clinician at Liz Davis Therapy, we consider it your time and space to unpack your past, process your present life circumstances, and collaborate together to identify how you want to curate your ideal future to manifest your ideal and True Self!
Discover Your True Self Through Therapy.
Aren’t we all just on a journey to understand ourselves more deeply? Whether it’s personal growth, managing symptoms, developing self-esteem, improving our emotional understanding or acuity, or reckoning with trauma in our past, we want to walk alongside you on your mental health and wellness journey!
We love working with individual clients and have curated a therapeutic space that offers safety, acceptance, and nonjudgment in a cozy, comfortable environment that fosters the ability to express your Authentic Self.
This isn’t your standard therapy. Our therapists work intuitively and collaboratively with our clients, drawing from a variety of theories and modalities. This eclectic approach allows us to curate a therapeutic style to fit you and your needs. We adjust our approach based on the client before us while providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
If you’re looking for a specific approach, just ask! We try to blend intellectual and cognitive approaches with more emotionally focused work. Some of our clinicians are also trained in EMDR to assist with trauma recovery or to simply process intense or difficult life events. Others are also trained in AEDP, a more emotionally oriented style of therapy for those seeking more of an emotional release.
Our therapists' style tends to be warm and gentle, yet we can be direct and challenging when appropriate, and if that’s what you desire. We want to be a safe place for you and welcome whatever is on your heart or mind that you’d like to process and unpack.
Whatever your values, background, or philosophy of life, we welcome all people at Liz Davis Therapy and will incorporate what is most important to you while offering therapy with Authenticity, Acceptance, and Alignment.
“Humans are wired for connection. We all have a desire to be seen, heard, safe, and soothed. We want to connect with you and be fully present as a witness to your truth.”

-
Sessions last 50 minutes, and the frequency depends on your individual needs. We collaborate with our clients to determine an effective schedule and frequency.
-
We do not accept insurance. While we realize this is inconvenient for some, our reason for not accepting insurance is we want greater privacy and autonomy for you, the client. Oftentimes, insurance companies will require us to make a diagnosis whether we find it appropriate or not. Insurance companies can also dictate which therapy approaches we use and the number of sessions we have. We would prefer the freedom to work with you individually to determine whether diagnoses are appropriate and collaborate to determine the style of therapy and number of sessions that are right just for you.
-
We specialize in a range of issues, including anxiety, relationship challenges, trauma, life transitions, depression, grief, self-exploration, inner child work, emotional development, and more. Each session is tailored to your unique needs.
-
Not at all. Therapy is beneficial for everyone seeking personal growth, self-discovery, or assistance in navigating life's challenges. We create a space for all individuals, regardless of the nature of their concerns.

-
Absolutely. Our approach includes addressing specific concerns such as stress, self-esteem, loneliness, and more. Our goal is to assist you in developing coping strategies and achieving personal growth no matter what you are coming into therapy for.
-
Client testimonials provide insights into the therapeutic experience. Our clients speak to the transformative impact of their sessions, highlighting the supportive and engaging atmosphere we strive to create. And honestly, our clients personally asked us to share their testimonials with you in a non-identifying way because they expressed benefitting from therapy so much, that they wanted to encourage other people to start their healing journeys as well!
-
Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. We ensure a safe, secure, and private space for our clients, adhering to our professional ethical standards to protect your personal information.
-
Collaboration is key. We work with clients collaboratively, ensuring that the therapeutic journey is a shared experience in which your insights and preferences shape the process.
-

-
Your sessions are tailored to your needs. While we can offer guidance if you prefer it, the focus is on what matters most to you. Sessions are a reflection of your unique journey and goals, and we prioritize whatever you bring into the room that day to process through. We start our sessions by asking, “Is there anything on your heart or mind that you’d like to talk through or process today or use our time together for? If not, I can pick us up where we left off.” This ensures that you have the first opportunity to dictate how your therapy time is used, but it also guarantees that we have a backup plan, based on our previous sessions, if nothing specific is coming to mind for you, or if you’d rather pick up the conversation from our last session.
-
Therapy is a dynamic process. If a particular approach doesn't resonate with you, we are more than willing and open to adjusting and finding a method that better suits your preferences and needs. We create the type of open and safe environment where our clients can be open about what works for them and what doesn’t, and we adjust accordingly.
-
We recognize the interconnectedness of mental health with other aspects of life. Our holistic approach considers factors such as lifestyle, physical health, relationships, and self-care to promote overall well-being. While we do not push medication on our clients, if we collaborate with a client and we determine that medication may be useful to them, we have a holistic psychiatric nurse practitioner whom we trust and refer our clients to for holistic psychiatric medical care when needed to supplement the work we do in therapy.
-
Therapy duration truly varies. We work collaboratively with clients to define goals, and together you decide the length of therapy, whether it's short-term for specific issues or longer-term for ongoing growth. Many of our clients choose to see us more frequently in the beginning as we work through their presenting issues, then often move to “maintenance” over time once they feel their initial issues have been stabilized or resolved. Many of our maintenance clients book sessions in the Client Portal whenever they feel like they want or need one. Therapy is just one tool in our overall wellness journeys in life, and we like to provide ongoing care for clients who want therapy to be a part of their self-care and lifestyle.
-
Absolutely. We are totally willing and open to discussing spiritual or religious aspects that are important to you. We value your beliefs and incorporate them into the therapeutic process as needed. We do not, however, push any of our own values onto our clients.
-
While we love seeing clients in person, we understand the importance of accessibility. We offer virtual sessions for clients who prefer the convenience of remote therapy, ensuring a flexible and comfortable experience.
